RUPANDEHI: In a coordinated cross-border operation, 453 Nepali citizens stranded in India’s Kushinagar region after being deceived with false job promises have been safely rescued and brought back to Nepal.
According to the District Police Office, Rupandehi, the rescue effort was carried out jointly with the Embassy of Nepal in India and Indian police authorities following reports that the individuals had been lured by fraudulent employment offers.
The rescued citizens were transported back to Nepal through the Belahiya border checkpoint. Authorities confirmed that all individuals have been received safely and are currently under the care of the District Police Office in Rupandehi.
Officials said preliminary inquiries are underway to investigate the suspected human trafficking and employment fraud network behind the incident.
