Papillion Police Chief Chris Whitted provided an update late Friday night on the officer-involved shooting that happened at the Home Depot near 84th and Cornhusker.
Initial reports indicated a disturbance started outside Ming’s Restaurant where the suspect opened fire. When police located the suspect, a pursuit got underway that ended in the parking lot of Home Depot with more gunshots.
The chief said from his understanding, the suspect initiated the gunfire in the Home Depot parking lot, but that the exchange remains under investigation. He confirmed multiple officers opened fire.
No bystanders or officers were injured. The suspect was taken to the hospital with a “life-threatening” injury.
“There’s no danger to the public,” Chief Whitted said. “Everybody is safe from a citizens’ standpoint.”
