Bellevue has been named one of the Best Summer Travel Destinations in the 2026 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards, the city’s destination-management organization announced this week in a news release.
Bellevue ranked No. 10 and another Washington city, Spokane, ranked No. 7. Topping the list at No. 1 was Mackinac Island, Michigan. Others on the list were: Indianapolis, No. 2; Ocean City, New Jersey, No. 3; Madison, Wisconsin, No. 4; Gatlinburg, Tennessee, No. 5; Saratoga Springs, New York, No. 6; Tybee Island, Georgia, No. 8; and Branson, Missouri, No. 9.
“Being named one of USA TODAY 10Best top summer escapes is an incredible honor and a meaningful reflection of Bellevue’s growing reputation as the Pacific Northwest’s premier destination,” Brad Jones, executive director of Visit Bellevue, said in the release. “From waterfront adventures and outdoor recreation to exceptional dining, arts and culture, Bellevue offers visitors everything they’re looking for in a summer getaway, all within a vibrant, safe and walkable downtown.”
The USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards highlight top destinations and experiences across the country, with nominees selected by a panel of travel experts and editors before being voted on by the public over a four-week online voting period.
Bellevue’s summer calendar includes the Bellevue Family 4th celebration of America 250, Bellevue Berry Week, Bellevue Crab Week, the Bellevue Farmers Market, and the return of the Bellevue Arts Fair. Bellevue is home to more than 2,700 acres of parks and open space woven between Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish.
Bellevue Adventures, the city’s zip tour and aerial course in the trees, is also currently nominated for a USA Today Readers’ Choice award for Best Aerial Adventure Park, Visit Bellevue said. The park was redesigned and modernized last year at a cost of $1 million.
Earlier this year, Bellevue also was named “Most Sustainable and Scenic City” in the Good Housekeeping family travel awards, highlighting Bellevue’s balance of urban sophistication, natural beauty, and environmental stewardship.
In 2025, Bellevue welcomed 2.2 million overnight visitors who generated $760 million in overnight spending, contributing to a total economic impact of $2.3 billion, Visit Bellevue reported in March. The visitor economy supports 14,500 hospitality jobs and generates $142 million in state and local taxes, the organization said, adding that tourism reduces the annual tax burden by more than $1,400 per Bellevue household.
