ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Apple is urging iPhone users to update their software to protect against new hacking threats.
Researchers say groups in Russia and China are developing programs that can infiltrate iPhones and collect user data. Apple says its software update released in September blocks these attacks, but only if users install it.

Apple also released a special update for older iPhone models to help stop the hacking tools.
