Denza has launched its first major over-the-air (OTA) software update for the B5 and B8 SUVs in New Zealand, delivering improvements to towing capability, off-road performance, safety features and everyday convenience at no cost to owners.
The Version 1.1.0 update is the result of customer feedback and engineering work specifically tailored to New Zealand driving conditions, according to the luxury electric vehicle brand.
Towing capability enhanced across both models
Both the B5 and B8 receive notable towing upgrades through the software update. B5 owners gain cruise control functionality while towing, designed to reduce driver fatigue during long highway journeys.
The B5 also receives a dedicated towing mode switch and trailer weight selection feature, allowing the vehicle to automatically adjust performance parameters for improved stability and safety when hauling loads.
The B8 picks up cruise control in towing mode alongside dynamic range estimation, providing more accurate real-world towing confidence for drivers.
Interior and safety improvements
Inside the cabin, both models now feature turn signal indicators on the head-up display for better driver awareness. A new driver password lock has been added across both vehicles for enhanced security.
The B8 receives improved anti-jam resistance for its second and third-row folding seats, addressing a practical concern for owners using the vehicle’s flexible seating configurations.
Denza Australia & New Zealand chief operating officer Mark Harland says the update reflects the brand’s commitment to its customers.
“Whether it’s improved towing capability, greater off-road confidence or enhanced convenience and safety features, these updates are designed to deliver meaningful improvements that customers will notice in everyday driving,” Harland says.
The update is rolling out digitally now, with no dealership visit required for installation.
