India and South Korea have agreed to expedite the negotiations to improve their trade pact, according to an official statement issued after the latest round of talks held in New Delhi.
Both countries reviewed the progress achieved so far in the India-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IK CEPA) upgrade negotiations and noted the concerns over New Delhi’s widening trade deficit with Seoul.
Both India and South Korea reaffirmed their commitment to conclude the discussions in a “time-bound manner” and build a more balanced trade partnership.
The negotiations, which stretched for three days, concluded on Wednesday and followed up an agreement reached in April between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Korean Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo during the South Korean president’s state visit to India.

He also expressed his gratitude to Congress leaders.
“I got the opportunity to serve seven crore Kannadigas as CM twice, and as Leader of Opposition twice. I thank Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.”
He said that the high command directed him two days ago to step down.

Kolkata’s New Town was designed as a model “smart city” for modern, sustainable urban living—complete with electric buses, solar power, and top-tier green certifications. But behind its wide roads and rapid growth lies a more complex reality. Over three decades, the area has lost around 60% of its green cover, contributing to rising urban heat. Rapid expansion is also encroaching on the East Kolkata Wetlands, a protected ecosystem critical for wastewater treatment and local livelihoods. While advances in waste management and e-mobility stand out, challenges like flooding, pollution, and uneven infrastructure raise questions about how sustainable this urban future really is. What would it take to make a city genuinely sustainable?

The two sides discussed various aspects of the border situation during a meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) in Beijing on Wednesday.
“The discussions were constructive and forward-looking,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, a day after the talks.
