The tornado drought is over! Surveys will be done, and we will update you on the ratings. A brief tornado touched down southeast of Hobart on Tuesday, and another weak tornado touched down Wednesday evening near Hugo.
We do have a few showers around Thursday morning, but rain is expected to become much more isolated in the afternoon. If you are headed to Loud City Live or to one of the Thunder watch zones, it looks wonderful for the evening.
The highest rain chances will continue Thursday morning in north-central Oklahoma.
Highs on Thursday will climb into the 70s and 80s. It will stay cooler in the north, where clouds will hold on in the afternoon.
We cannot rule out a few isolated thunderstorms on Thursday, but chances are very low for much of our area. The highest chances this afternoon will be up in Green Country.
Thursday night will be mild with partly cloudy skies. Lows will fall into the 50s and 60s. Winds will be very light to calm, and fog is possible in low-lying areas.
Friday morning, a few isolated storms try to develop. We may see a few heavy downpours and some areas of intense lightning.
Friday afternoon is much hotter! Highs climb into the 80s and 90s. Mid 90s are possible in southwest OK.
With increasing instability, storms on Friday could be severe. We will monitor northwestern Oklahoma for large hail and damaging winds.
The highest chance for storms on Friday will be from Cheyenne to Woodward to Ponca City. Trackers will be out if needed, and we will have live updates.
Looking ahead to the weekend and into the first of June, we continue with some on-and-off rain chances, but highs definitely start to creep towards the 90s.
Isolated severe threats will continue with mainly damaging wind and at times large hail.
