Robinhood's new Agentic Trading feature lets AI agents manage investments, using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for seamless integration and automated trades.
Robinhood is venturing into AI-powered investing with its new Agentic Trading feature. This allows users to connect third-party AI agents to their Robinhood accounts to automate trading strategies. The initiative, detailed on robinhood.com, aims to bring advanced automation to retail investors.

At the core of this integration is the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard enabling AI agents to interact with external applications. Unlike basic chatbots, AI agents with MCP access can perform actions, such as placing trades on behalf of the user.
Users will need to select a compatible AI platform and then link it to their Robinhood account via the Robinhood Trading MCP. The AI agent can then access portfolio information, buying power, and account details. It can also execute various order types, from building diversified portfolios based on market analysis to automatically rebalancing holdings.
Examples of agent capabilities include constructing portfolios focused on specific sectors like the AI supply chain, or automating strategies such as buying a stock when its price drops by a certain percentage. Agents can also analyze market data, explain stock movements, and develop investment theses.
Robinhood emphasizes that users retain ultimate control and responsibility for all trades executed by their AI agents. Before an action is taken, users have the option to review and approve trades, though agents can be configured to act without explicit confirmation.
Agentic Trading is currently rolling out, with access granted via email invitation. To set up, users must first choose an AI platform, such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Codex, or Cursor, and follow their specific connection instructions to integrate with the Robinhood Trading MCP. A dedicated Robinhood Agentic account is required, which can be opened during the onboarding process.
The company acknowledges the inherent risks. AI agents can make errors, misinterpret data, or act on incomplete information. Robinhood is not liable for losses stemming from AI-generated decisions. Users are expected to monitor their accounts and agent activity.
The AI agent gains read access to all Robinhood accounts, positions, balances, and transaction history. However, trades can only be placed within the dedicated Robinhood Agentic account.
This integration represents a significant step in Robinhood’s embrace of AI agents in its financial services.
